Kate has helped not only me, but so many other salespeople I know with selling, referrals and personal things – and done a stellar job at it. Her referral selling coaching COMPLETELY changed my career. Literally, I have sold thousands of more units because of Kate’s effective coaching. – Emma Barnett
Hi, I’m Kate Raidt. Welcome to Million Dollar Parent! I’m author of The Million-Dollar Parent: How To Have a Successful Career While Keeping Your Family a Top Priority. I have been a top producer in sales for over 25 years – and I have coached thousands of men and women over the years how to reach their goals as well.
I love my minivan, TJ Maxx and Rice Crispy Treats. Can we still be friends?
When I was 20 years old, I made a list and taped it to my dorm room door (for everyone to laugh at) titled “Things To Do Before I am 30”. That list included crazy difficult goals like…
- Star in a movie
- Run a marathon
- Be the lead singer of an award-winning band
- Publish a book
- Earn over $100K in a year
- Be a starting player on a state-level soccer team
- Start a service project
- Live in Europe for 6 months
- Get married
- Have children
By age 30 I had accomplished all of these goals, except, it took until age 33 to get married (I learned you can’t put a timeframe on marriage), age 34 to have my first child and age 37 to have a book published.
I have always felt Kate’s enthusiasm for myself and others. Her passion for helping others shows no matter what you are doing. Kate’s referral selling training CHANGED MY LIFE. Thank you for everything! – Sarah Maddack
How did I do it?
When I was 19 years old, I attended Baylor University. I was completely broke. I didn’t even have money to buy food on the weekends. So I went door-to-door in my dormitory and asked people to borrow quarters “for laundry” when I was really using that money to buy food from the vending machine. My daily diet was a small bag of pretzels and a diet Sprite.
I heard about a summer job selling educational books door-to-door, straight commission, 500 miles from home where I had the chance to earn $5000. I had never sold anything in my entire life except Girl Scout cookies and I had no idea how I would do. I also didn’t have a car so I would have to walk door-to-door all summer.
Kate, you have been going door-to-door all semester in the dormitory to feed yourself. And nailed it. You got this, girlfriend!
My goal that first summer was to earn $10,000. If the average person earns $5000, then I am going to double that.
I finished that summer #6 out of 4500 people. Without a car, I earned $14,000 in 12 weeks of selling – almost triple the amount the average salesperson earned.
Kate taught me how to work referrals. I had zero clue what that was or that it was even possible. As a result, I had my best year by 80 customers! Kate also taught me simple verbage in selling – that made all the difference. – David Czovek
What I learned:
- I can do anything I put my mind to
- The importance of goal-setting
- Never ever quitting on a goal
- How to use my critics as motivation
- How to overcome obstacles
- How to sell
So how does this translate to me landing a lead role in a movie, completing a marathon, singing in an award-winning band, marriage, etc….?
All of the principles and skills I learned in sales I have applied to all other areas of my life.
Example: How did my band Matson Belle play headlining shows at some of the biggest concert venues in LA and Austin?
The industry standard for bands to book concerts at popular clubs was to mail a press kit to the booking agent – and then sit back and wait for the phone to ring.
I learned in sales that every single sale I ever made was because I went to people and didn’t wait for them to call me.
So I got in my car with a bag of CDs and went directly to the clubs I wanted to book and asked to speak to the booking agent face-to-face. In less than three hours, I booked my band headlining gigs at Antones, Stubbs and Steamboat – the three most sought-after concert venues in Austin.
Shortly thereafter, we won 3 Austin Music Awards.
Meanwhile, all of the other bands in town were waiting for the phone to ring.
What I will teach you
- How to properly set goals
- How to approach prospective buyers (the non-stereotypical-salesperson way)
- How to establish rapport and create a sizzle about what you are selling (this step is huge – but most salespeople skip it)
- How to cover objections in advance before you get them (Don’t you hate hearing “I need to think about it”?)
- How to create a positive, laid back buying atmosphere (you never should be pushy)
- How to get referrals the right way (Many salespeople do this wrong)
- How to drastically increase your sales by working smarter – not harder (parents, work while your kids are in school – no more)
- How to use your selling skills to accomplish all other goals in life
In the past 25 years since my first summer selling books, I sold books door-to-door for 10 summers, then sold supplemental insurance business-to-business for 8 years. During this time, I trained over 10,000 salespeople in various sales schools how to reach their goals.
After my book, The Million-Dollar Parent, was published, I launched one of the biggest parenting websites in the world (under corporate America) where I was editor-in-chief and content director. During this time, I worked with a fabulous team of authors, doctors, family therapists, nutritionist and money experts.
Kate has had a huge impact on me – not only with referral selling, but also the stories she had told on how she has overcome obstacles and broken belief barriers truly helped me reach my goals. – Jacob Flores
In 2019, I decided to branch out on my own and start MillionDollarParent.com – a village for working parents with expert advice on parenting, marriage and advanced sales strategies.
